Summer Grom Club - ages 13-17 years

Focussing on the Arts of Fun for girls, Girls Grom Club will run for two weeks during the six week holidays. The sessions will provide a supportive environment for our young people to flourish, build confidence in the sea, meet friends and learn to slide sideways.

Why surf?

Surfing is just one of the amazing non competitive activities that allows participants to express their individuality and be active on their own terms. The positive impact both physically and mentally is far reaching providing an excellent way to access our natural environment and all its benefits.

When will the sessions run?

There will be sessions running throughout the first two weeks of summer and your young person can book onto one or both of the weeks. There is no option for one-off sessions as the idea behind the club is to bring girls together and help form friendships as well as learning to build confidence throughout the four day course.

This particular course is for the w/c July 29th- head back to the main page for ages 9-12 or the following weeks course:

Tuesday to Friday

July 30th, 31st, August 1st, 2nd.

What do we provide?

We provide everything your young person needs to surf and build ocean confidence, high quality boards & warm wetsuits, boots can be provided if needed but usually not necessary in the summer months. if the sea is unsafe on any given day and the land is dry we also have the option to skateboard. We have all the equipment necessary for this and work with a qualified GB skateboard coach.

Wetsuits!

Each young person will be issued a wetsuit for the four days. They will need to take the wetsuit home and bring ready for the next day. They are welcome to use this at any point during the week.

Location: Tynemouth Longsands South End - meet at the Yonder van on the ramp.

Important: All parents need to be present to sign the consent form for the first session.

Time: 11.30 - 1.15pm

Duration: 1.45 hours in total

What if there is no surf?!

The North Sea is unpredictable. This time of year we can hope for smaller waves and lighter winds but that is not a guarantee. If we have a day where there is no surf we are likely to run a flat session where we can learn to paddle the boards and build confidence in the water. If we have more than one flat day and the conditions are dry we will run a skateboard session with our qualified skate coach Tom Bing, Sally will be there too!

Important disclaimer - 50% refund of the entire club sessions will only be issued if the attendee informs Yonder well in advance that they are unable to attend. Yonder will require at least fourteen days notice so that they can find a replacement. There is no option to obtain refunds if the attendee cancels on individual sessions as it is very hard to find replacements that can slot into an existing course and that is not the intention of these group sessions.

Sally McGee will be the surf coach on each session. Sally is a qualified ASI Instructor, Ambassador for Finisterre and an SLSGB LifeGuard with years of experience surfing in the North Sea, this is a great opportunity to learn to surf with a passionate and experienced instructor.
