What do we provide?

We provide everything you need to surf and build ocean confidence, high quality boards, women’s wetsuits, boots, gloves & hoods if needed!

Our range of boards to borrow from include perfect beginner boards to high quality soft tops and fiberglass hard boards.

We have always ensured that our session sizes are small to ensure everyone attending gets the attention and support necessary to progress at their own individual pace.

Who are they for?

These clubs are aimed at absolute beginners and those who have perhaps had lessons or a few lessons before (with Yonder or elsewhere) but are still wanting to work on the basics and build confidence in the sea. We will cover the basics of surfing, touch on surf forecasting each session, develop effective paddling skills, how to spot and catch the right waves and work on individual pop ups with a real focus on timing and technique. The sessions are all designed as a way to understand the surf better, stay safe in the water, build an awareness of surf culture and maintain the fundamental passion that keeps us going back!

For these sessions we will mainly stay in the white water unless the surf is small and appropriate for green waves.

Our aim is to help you become a more independent and confident surfer so a chance to ask all the questions, try a range of boards in a safe and supportive environment with like minded women.

Each surfer is always individually supported in their surf journey. Just message me (Sal) if you’re not sure.

Like in all sessions we will focus on general ocean confidence, building and understanding of the different conditions and impact of tides, winds, swell on wave formation.

There is the possibility of a surf skate session if the conditions would make it more beneficial one week, we will play that by ear and bring Tom in as our certified skateboard coach. We have all the equipment for this and it has proved highly popular and beneficial to participants surfing as well as being a lot of fun!

Important:

Due to the very nature of unpredictable conditions we may not always have swell so will run paddle technique sessions if safe to do so. If we have dangerous conditions we may instead do a land based theory sessions on surf concept, ocean safety or surf forecasting. There is also the option to skate (see above.) Please be advised that the conditions will not always be perfect but we will need them to be safe. These sessions are intended to ‘go out whatever the conditions,' a way of understanding our sea better which is often the reality of the North Sea but if we have unfavourable winds I may also try and rearrange for another date during that week. Flat sessions are recognised as important in our surf journey as it is often during these sessions that we grasp board control and paddle techniques.

These sessions are aimed at building friendships and confidence and providing a more regular option for those not able to be as adaptable due to work/family/travel commitments. Women who have attended these sessions have formed friendships and gained skills that have helped them to become confident and independent surfers and water users.

“Have just completed the 5 week surf club with Sally and absolutely loved it! Sally is by far the best surf teacher I’ve had, she is so knowledgeable and passionate about surfing it’s impossible not to enjoy yourself! Sally doesn’t just focus on getting you to pop up on the waves-she teaches you to read waves, understand surf forecasts, surf technique and etiquette all of which build your confidence and help you to become a safe and independent surfer. If you’re considering trying surfing or want to build/improve your existing your surf skills book in with Yonder you won’t regret it!” Laura

Sally is a qualified ASI Instructor and SLSGB LifeGuard with years of experience surfing in the North Sea, this is a great opportunity to learn to surf with a passionate and experienced instructor.

Important disclaimer - 50% refund of the entire club sessions will only be issued if the attendee informs Yonder well in advance that they are unable to attend. Yonder will require at least fourteen days notice so that they can find a replacement. There is no option to obtain refunds if the attendee cancels on individual sessions as it is very hard to find replacements that can slot into an existing course and that is not the intention of these group sessions.
