Yonder Surf Academy CIC

Here at Yonder we work to empower women and girls in our local community. We offer them a connection to the sea that many have never experienced despite living so close. We want to continue to do this and have established a specific program that will work closely with teenage girls in the surrounding area. It is at this key age that many girls stop partaking in physical activities, feeling too self conscious or uncomfortable to try something new, it's a time of exams and often a time of anxiety. We work to introduce our community to a lasting and positive activity that will pervade into the other parts of their life and engender a "yes I can" attitude and mindset that will help ease their mind and introduce them to an activity that they can take with them through life.

The CIC arm of Yonder Women’s Surf School entitled the ‘Yonder Surf Academy’; a Community Interest Company.

Last year we worked in partnership with This Girl Can, Newcastle Student’s Union, The Pheonix Project and St Johns Spence School. Throughout the national and local lock-downs we have been subsiding 1:1 surf lessons to ensure that women in our community are getting an opportunity to experience all the important benefits that being in the sea has to offer during these tough times.
